The Lumix 25mm 1.7 is a small, light weight and buttery smooth shallow depth of field lens. The lens construction incorporates one UHR element pairs with two aspherical elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions for consistent edge-to-edge sharpness and illumination.

The build quality is adequate. It's a plastic body with a metal lens mount. For the price, image quality is very good, it's responsive and quick to focus. Images produced by this lens are sharp, detailed and you can get excellent bokeh. The autofocus is precise, quiet and fast on Lumix G7.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces a smooth out-of-focus quality when working with shallow depth of field techniques.

The normal prime Panasonic 25mm F1.7 lens is designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, this lens provides a 50mm equivalent focal length to represent a normal perspective. It is well-suited for both still photography and videos. The photos taken wide open seem sharp at 100% magnification, from edge to edge.

It is compact, lightweight which is perfect for traveling, and most important takes excellent pictures. The Lumix 25mm 1.7 lens covers a great ground for both street and portrait photography. It provides great portraits with a very pleasant blurred background.

Low Light Situations

The Panasonic 25mm 1.7 works great in low light and all photos seem very sharp, and it is great lens for the money. While it does not have image stabilization IS, it features a very fast aperture of 1.7 which is great for low light situations. The lens is much brighter than 14-42mm kit lens, so good for indoor photos without flash.

A softness or vignetting at the corners is not noticeable. It is sharp edge to edge, corner to corner at any f stop. Distortion is practically non-existing, corner shading is minimal. Panasonic H-H025 may be a little softer in the corners, and perhaps not as razor sharp as the highly regarded Leica DG 25mm 1.4, but at this price is a bargain.

The Panasonic 25mm F1.7 is not the absolute sharpest lens, but it does a nice job.
