The Zuiko 17mm 1.8 is small, light weight and buttery smooth shallow depth of field lens. The lens construction incorporates one high refractive index pairs with two aspherical elements (DSA) to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions for consistent edge-to-edge sharpness and illumination.

The build quality is all-metal construction, feels solid. At an affordable price, the image quality and color rendering is really good. It's responsive and quick to focus. The Zuiko 17mm F1.8 is wide-angle prime lens, well-suited for both still photography and videos, even though it lacks of optical stabilization. It is compact and lightweight which is perfect for traveling, and most important takes excellent pictures. It is the ideal lens for shooting landscapes, portraits, night and street photography. Image quality in jpeg and raw formats is very good.

The Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm F1.8 lens features the Movie & Still Compatible mechanism, or MSC. This technology provides amazingly fast and nearly silent autofocus operation. With the ring in the auto focus position, you can either use AF or switch to manual focus using the camera controls.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces a smooth out-of-focus quality when working with shallow depth of field techniques.

Is Olympus 17mm F1.8 good for photography?


The Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm F1.8 lens provides a 34 mm equivalent focal length and is capable of shooting a wide variety of photos whether your preferred subjects are family, landscapes or architecture. It covers a great ground for general purpose use.

Low light high ISO performance

The low light capabilities are very impressive handling higher ISO with very minimal noise. This Olympus 17mm F1.8 M.Zuiko lens is amazingly fast and allows great action shots even at indoor sport games with low light.

Olympus 17mm f/1.8 perhaps not as razor sharp as the highly regarded ED 17mm f/1.2 PRO lens, but at this price is a bargain.
